I realize that for those that wish to become a firefighter, you gotta take what you can get. The city you live in may only hire firefighters every couple years or maybe longer. So it's benefitial to apply to many departments in which you might like to serve.
But how on earth do you apply for jobs that are thousands of miles away? I mean especially for a position as a firefighter where you have to go back and forth serveral times for the written test, physical test, interview, ect... That's a lot of money/time for plane tickets/driving. And then your chances of getting selected are not even good.
Please don't take this as being pessimistic. I'm looking for answers to how you guys do it...b/c honestly I didn't know people did this trying to be a firefighter until I found this site.
Thanks,
Matt
