i was looking in to getting hired for a Airport fire department any body know what the qualifications are?

Among others....FF1&FF2 (safe bet is to get IFSAC/ProBoard level), HazMat Tech., ARFF Firefighting,
I'd say join the Air Force, and TRY and get into firefighting. List is long from what I hear.

Go to the airport you want to get hired at and speak to the chief or training officer and find out what the qualifications are there.
When I got hired on a WiAng Base as a civilian CFR Firefighter what I had to do was pass the written test, pass the physical agility, pass the medical physical, get through the interview and THEN get my secret security clearance.
Once hired they trained me and I had to take the Air Force 5 level course.
I was never in the military and was hired wirth no prior CFR experience.

At the airport near me, I believe the only quals are FF@ ant EMT-b.
that could be wrong, but I think that was what was required last time I read the app packet.The opinions I post to these forums do not represent any entity to which I am affiliated.
