City of Angola Fire Department The City of Angola Fire Department is located in the center of Steuben County in the far northeast section of Indiana. The corporation trustees of Angola established the Angola Fire Department in 1873. The fire department provides fire and rescue services covering over 100 square miles in Steuben County, protecting areas made up of residential, heavy and light industrial, agricultural & numerous lakes which provide fishing, hunting and recreational activities. The department operates out of one central fire station, which is staffed by 9 career firefighters and 25 paid on call firefighters, who perform tasks such as fire suppression and various other emergencies including but not limited to medic assist calls, vehicle extrications, water rescues, gas and electrical emergencies, carbon monoxide monitoring, natural disasters and mutual aid responses for surrounding departments. Other duties performed include fire prevention and inspections, fire investigations, fire and medical training, apparatus and building maintenance, public safety and smoke detector programs. Areas protected by the City of Angola Fire Department include The City of Angola, and the Townships of Pleasant, Jamestown, Scott and York. Angola Fire Department responds to over 1,000 incidents annually and strives to protect our community and make is as safe as we can.
