Westport Fire Department proudly protects 22000 people living in an area of 21.5 square miles. We operate out of 4 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status.
The Westport Fire Department if staffed with 54 paid members and 15 active volunteers. The department responded to over 3100 calls last year. All apparatus are driven by the paid staff and the volunteers respond in private vehicles to the scene. We cover many residential properties throughout town, commercial properties along Route 1, as well as limited access highways I-95, and the Merritt Parkway. We are a designated first responer for EMS calls in the town and all engines and the rescue truck carry automatic defib machines. Our Dive Resue team covers our shoreline on Long Island Sound as well as inland rivers and ponds. The dive team is made up of members of the police and fire departments, and are all certified in Dive Rescue 1. The Westport Fire Department does NOT send out patches. Please do not ask.
