Glassy Mountain Fire Department proudly protects 5600 people living in an area of 50 square miles. We operate out of 5 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status.
The Glassy Mountain Fire Department was formed in 1987 to cover the Dark Corner or No Man's Land in Northern Greenville County. We are rural department that covers approximately 50 square miles in Greenville, stretching from the East on Highway 14 to West on Highway 25. From South from Highway 414 to North on the State line. We have 5 stations that house 18 pieces of apparatus. Plus, we have a full-time Chief, Part-time Assistant Chief, 3 full-time firemen, and 45 Volunteers.
