Johnson County RFD #1 is nestled at the foot of the Ozark Mountains on Scenic Highway 21. The volunteer department proudly protects a community of over 2800 people and covers over 45 square miles. In 2003, the department received a FEMA Fire Act Grant in the amount of $42,450 for it's Fire Prevention Division, and we are very excited about all of the opportunities that will be available to our community. The department is very fire prevention oriented, and has been expanding it's program to serve not only our district, but the area of Clarksville as well. Major projects include a safety trailer, safety room, puppets and puppet theatre, and smoke detectors and batteries for almost every home in our district! More information on these projects coming soon! We were also fortunate to receive a $70,414 FEMA Fire Grant in 2002, and converted old personal protective equipment to the newer equipment. New training materials are also being put to use to help make it safer for our firefighters on the fireground. Johnson County RFD #1 reminds you to "Practice Fire Safety Everyday"!
