Western Taney County Fire Protection District

IN THE FALL OF 1982 THE WESTERN TANEY COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT WAS FORMED BY A VOTE OF THE CITIZENS OF WESTERN TANEY COUNTY WHEN IT WAS SEEN THAT THE NEED EXISTED TO IMPROVE ON THE FIRE PROTECTION THAT WAS BEING PROVIDED. WE PROUDLY PROTECT THE LIVES AND PROPERTY BY PROVIDING PROMPT, SKILLFUL, COST-EFFECTIVE FIRE PROTECTION AND LIFE SAFETY SERVICES TO THE CITIZENS AND VISITORS WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF WESTERN TANEY COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT. THE WESTERN TANEY COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT IS A TAX SUPPORTED ENTITY OF TANEY COUNTY. THE CURRENT TAX ASSESSMENT RATE IS $.38 PER $100.00 ASSESSED VALUE OF REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY. THE WESTERN TANEY COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT CURRENTLY COVERS APPROXIMATELY 212 SQUARE MILES OF THE WESTERN THIRD OF TANEY COUNTY EXCLUDING THE CITY LIMITS OF BRANSON. THE WESTERN TANEY COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT IS GOVERNED BY A THREE MEMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHO ARE ELECTED TO A SIX YEAR TERM BY THE CITIZENS OF THE DISTRICT. CURRENTLY THE DISTRICT HAS AROUND 90 VOLUNTEERS AND EMPLOYS A FULL TIME PAID FIRE CHIEF, ASSISTANT CHIEF/TRAINING OFFICER, ASSISTANT CHIEF/INSPECTIONS, 1 APPARATUS TECHNICIAN AND 1 OFFICE MANAGER.
