New Paltz Fire Department proudly protects 16841 people living in an area of 54 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.
The New Paltz Fire Department serves the Village and Town of New Paltz with nearly fifty volunteers. Unique to our setting is the presence of the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz with two ten-story buildings. Also the New York Thruway passes through New Paltz, and this traffic creates added exposure to hazardous material. The average number of calls is more than one per day. The New Paltz Fire Department is committed to the preservation of life and property in this community.
