Orion Community Fire Protection District

Orion Community Fire Protection District proudly protects 8000 people living in an area of 110 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.

The Orion Community Fire Protection District was formed bee in 1947 and has been providing EMS since 1973. We currently have 55 fire and ems volunteer professionals, 32 fire, 20 ems, and 3 communications. The Fire Dist. enhanced their extrication capability in 1989 with the purchase of the Jaws of Life. EMS enhanced their patient care capability with AED's in 1991, Nebulizer treatments in 1992 and Epi-pens in 1995, and computerizing the patient reporting process in 1998. Glucagon administration and Combi-tube skills were added in 2001. Currently we are finishing a building expansion project and in cooperationn with surrounding Emergency Services, establishing a confined space/high angle rescue team. In late 2001 Henry Co. Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS agencies came together to form a combined WMD, Haz-Mat, and Special Incident team. In 2003 the Fire District received a Fire Act Grant that made possible replacement of our SCBA's and Bunker Gear. It also made possible FirefighterII online training,the purchase of audio visual equipment and a vehicle exhaust system for our station.
