Enfield Fire District No.1 proudly serves and protects approximately 20000 people living in an area of 12 square miles. We operate out of two stations with eight apparatus and protect a suburban community rich with neatly kept homes and an abundance of commercial enterprise. The department is a public entity, having paid and volunteer members, trained to national standards for fire fighting, rescue, EMS, Hazardous Materials incident response and special operations (technical rescue). Founded in 1896 as two fire companies serving the north and south ends of the main street through the district, the department has grown to meet the needs of the expanding development. The department provides fire suppression, Hazardous Materials Incident response and rescue services and now also provides supplemental EMS response with the Police Dept. run BLS ambulance and private ALS ambulance. Our rescue capabilities include; trench and confined space, building collapse, MVA extrication, heavy rescue capabilities, shore based water rescue, hovercraft based swift water rescue,cold/ice water rescue and rope rescue.
