Monroe Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 1000 people living in an area of 42 square miles. We operate out of one central station that protects a primarily rural area. Ours is a municipal department whose members are employeed as volunteers
Small ,12 members, 6 active . Mostly farming community. 2 pumpers; 1974 Maxim cab foward with a 1500 gpm hale pump and an 800 gallon poly tank refurbd in 1997. It was purchased used from Kittery Point Maine. A 2004 Smeal Topmount 1250 GPM waterous pump 1000 gallon poly tank on an M2 chassis with a 330HP Catapiller diesel. 1990 International 2000 gallon tanker (home built) with Rupp portable pump. 1997 Brush truck assembled/built by the members 18HP Honda pump/225 gallon tank skid unit. 1992 Ford F350 Equipment truck. Was an ambulance we modified to bring our "stuff" to the fires.We also have a 1947 maxim our first truck that we would love to restore. We recently added a toe hitch to our brush truck and thru a fire grant purchased a 14 ft trailer with a 15000 watt generator,(4)900 watt quick raise lights,5000 psi dual powered air compressor,(4)5000 psi bottle cascade unit,storage for(21)2216 psi bottles and explosion containment refill station.
