Morris Township Fire Department

The Morris Township Fire Department provides fire protection, rescue services and a weekday First Responder Program through its 5 fire stations located throughout the Township of Morris. The Morris Township Fire Department responds to an area of 16 square miles and serves a residential population of approximately 20,000. Currently the fire department consists of 19 career personnel and approximately 60 active volunteers. The Morris Township Fire Department is classified as a combination type fire department (career & volunteer).

Morris Township Fire Department is also a Member of the Black Meadow Mutual Aid Association encompassing 11 communities. The purpose of this association is to supply assistance in the form of equipment and manpower whenever one of the departments is struck with a major incident, that individually one department may not be able to handle a situation of this magnitude alone. (i.e. Incidents from aircraft, natural disasters, hazardous materials and other calamities). It is also the intent of the association not to deplete any one department of all its fire fighting forces. Located within the Black Meadows Mutual Aid Association response area are Interstate I-287, I-280 and state Highway 24. Along with the road transportation system, are commuter rail service to NYC, commercial freight rail service and a small commercial jetport. Many of the fortune 500 hundred companies based within Morris County and the New York area utilize this airport. This area of New Jersey is also located under the New York area approach to the three major jetports servicing the New York region.
