The Westville Community Volunteer Fire Department was originally formed in 1851 shortly after the town of Westville was incorporated. Since then, it has grown to serve the entire township of New Durham and a portion of Jackson Township in Porter County, answering well over 400 calls per year. Total coverage in now 46 square miles serving a population in excess of 5,800. An original Rumley hand-pumper, depicted above on the department's patch, was used in the early days of the department and can be seen when visiting the station. Uh, yes it still works!
