The Stickney Fire Department is a part-time/paid-on-call department with 60 members. The station is staffed 24 hours a day with four FF/EMT-A personnel. On call personnel are notified via voice pagers. Average call volume is 1,700 calls per year. The SFD protects the Village of Stickney which has 6,150 residents in three square miles. There is also a large horse race track, the largest capacity waste water treatment plant in the world, and a heavy industry area on the east side of town. We share boarders with Chicago, Cicero, Berwyn, Lyons & Forest View. The SFD fleet consists of 3 engines, 1 truck, 2 ambulances, 1 hose wagon/light plant, 2 sedans. The fire station, completed in 2002, is 14,000 square feet with four drive-through bays. Over the years many SFD members have become career firefighters all over the metropolitain area.
