Andover Fire/Rescue Department (AFR) provides fire and rescue services from one station to an area of 37 square miles of the western portion of Butler County, the largest county in the state of Kansas. Our response district, on the west, borders the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County, Kansas. We are responsible for providing a variety of emergency services which includes responding to structure fires, wild land fires, hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies, and technical rescue situations. Emergency service protection is provided through the efforts of our 13 professional, volunteer firefighters and 13 professional, career firefighters, 24 hours a day. All paid firefighters maintain Firefighter I/II, Emergency Medical Technician and Hazardous Materials Operational Level as a minimum. Our volunteer force is trained through the Kansas State Fire Marshals training program, Kansas Fire and Rescue Institute, Kansas State Firemans Association and the Andover Fire/Rescue training program. It is part of our mission statement to meet or exceed state and national firefighting standards, training, and emergency response through the continued education of personnel, the implementation of national safety procedures, and the purchase of the safest firefighting equipment possible.
