Newington Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 29,306 people living in Newington. Newington varies in elevation from 40-350 feet above sea level. We operate out of 4 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.

*** This is the UNOFFICIAL site of N.V.F.D.*** The Newington Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of 110 active members. Operating from 4 stations with 6 firstline engines, 2 100ft plus arials, 1 heavy rescue, 1 tactical unit, 1 command post (self contained) and 1 brush/service unit. Newington handles about 1000 calls annually for fire/rescue situations, EMS is provided partially by a volunteer ambulance assoc. and commercial paramedic service. The department leadership consists of; Chief Chris Schroeder (Car 1), Assistant Chief Tom Lapierre (Car 2), Deputy Chief Tom Gill (Car 3), Deputy Chief Vic Depamphilis (Car 4), Deputy Chief Frank Papa (Car 5)
