The U.S. Coast Guard Fire Department is located at the Coast Guard's Training Facility in Cape May, NJ. The Crew of Station 59 is made up of civilian personnel, and Acitve Duty military personnel who respond to approximately 1300 calls a year ranging from: Medical Emergencies and Structure Fire's to HazMat and Heavy Rescue. Personnel are certified as: Firefighter I, and II, HazMat Technician, National Registry EMT, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Low Angle Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, and ARFF. The Crew not only responds to all calls on base, but also run mutual aid assignments throughout Cape May county; they are part of the HazMat response in all of Cape May county, and they respond to emergencies invloving military aircraft.
