Bethany Volunteer Fire Department

Bethany Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1973 to protect a largely agricultural area of 40 square miles with a population of 2,000 residents. The Bethany Fire Department currently operates out of one station with plans to build a second station along the U.S. 158 corridor. Our District has seen the continual growth of single family residential structures with two industrial complexes. "Rockingham Power" produces electricity by diesel powered generators and "Williams Pipeline" which operates a Gas pipeline pumping station. In 2003 the Department began staffing with 1 firefighter/EMT during the hours of 0730hrs.-1530hrs. Monday thru Friday. This staffing has allowed us to decrease response times during the time of day that many of our members were outside the District and a quick size-up allows us to request the additional resources sooner and with more efficiency.
