San Marcos Fire Dept

The San Marcos Fire Department encompasses 33 square miles of territory, 24 of which lie within the City of San Marcos. The Fire Department presently employs 74 full time personnel, and provides service to a population of approximately 79,000. The total number of alarms responded to in 2008 was 6,940. The Fire Department values working collaboratively with other city departments in achieving the City's goals and objectives. The Department relies heavily on standardized operating procedures, and on a work force that is highly motivated and self-disciplined. The Department operates from four fire stations, staffing four ALS engine companies, four ALS ambulances, and one ALS tiller truck company. The Department manages the San Marcos Regional Emergency Services Training Center, consisting of a five-story training tower, classrooms, and public safety center. The Department regularly participates in the statewide mutual aide system, including participation in both regional and statewide committees.
