Established in 1858, the Louisville Fire Department responds to over 50,000 incidents a year.
The department currently has over 570 employees and an annual budget of $55 million.
The Louisville Fire & Rescue is not bound to the traditional roles of fire service organizations. We serve the community in many other ways than just traditional fire fighting based on the locations of our facilities and the talents and interests of our team members. For example, we have hosted a variety of events from the Mayor’s Firehouse Chats to serving as a facility for children’s birthday parties. Additionally, we partner with schools and youth groups to provide mentors and tutors.
