Berwick Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of Berwick is a small suburban community of approximately 4,860 residents in St. Mary Parish in southern Louisiana. The Berwick Volunteer Fire Department protects a response area of approximately 6.8 square miles and also covers an additional rural area that is not in our corporate limits. The Berwick Volunteer Fire Department maintains a class 4 ISO/PIAL rating. The Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL) is our states agency of ISO. Our firefighting staff is comprised of 1 paid firefighter and 29 active volunteer members, housed at 3 stations. Of our 29 members, 14 are in active firefighting roles with 15 in support roles. The department operates 2 frontline pumpers, 1 aerial apparatus, 1 service unit, 1 fully equipped reserve pumper and 1 fully equipped reserve service unit. Our department has a mutual aid agreement with 10 other departments throughout our parish and is available to respond at any time. It has long been the tradition of the Berwick Volunteer Fire Department to hold to the highest standards of commitment to our community and to provide the greatest level of protection possible.
