Villa Hills Fire Department proudly protects 2300+/- people living in an area of 5 square miles. We operate out of one stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.

This site is dedicated to the eternal memory of all the victims of the tragic events of September 11th in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.

Whatever the Americans are proud of - whatever they consider to be particularly good, useful, brilliant, or characteristic of themselves - they designate as an institution...and the Volunteer Fire Departments are a great American institution.

Charles McKay, Editor, London Times, 1857

The Villa Hills Fire Department was established by a group of community residents in an unincorporated area of St. Clair County, Illinois. The specific area in question was at the current time receiving no fire protection whatsoever! A mere handful of extremely concerned taxpayers all pulled together and took the responsibility upon themselves to organize and apply to the state of Illinois for a charter and solicit funds to purchase needed firefighting equipment and a station in which to house it. In no time at all their incredible efforts paid off and in 1955 The Villa Hills Fire Department became a reality and began its longstanding tradition of dedicated and proud service to the community it protects.

Today, the Villa Hills Fire Department responds to some 60 to 80 emergency calls annually and serves an estimated 2300+/- residents in a district of approximately 5 square miles encompassing a variety of residential, institutional, commercial and light industrial properties. By deploying the latest in firefighting technology and staffing a highly dedicated and energetic corp of volunteer professionals, our mission remains to protect the lives, property and community of the citizens we serve by instituting an agressive and pro-active training and education regimen allowing our personnel to continually meet and exceed the challenges and hazards presented in the ever changing world fire supression and emergency mitigation.

The members, officers and firefighters of the Villa Hills Volunteer Firefighters Association would like to salute those very first citizen firefighters who went above and beyond the call of duty to forge the tradition of hard work and dedication that has made our organization what it has always strived to become. As we begin this journey into the new millenium, we are poised on the brink of a future that looks very bright indeed and to all of our members, past and present, we extend a very heartfelt THANK YOU!
