Martin City Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 800 people living in an area of 9 square miles. We operate out of one stations that protect a primarily rural area.Several new housing developments have been added to our rural area for added protection such as Glacier Hills Estates. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.
CONSISTS OF 18 VOLUNTEERS, ONE 3200 GALLON 1992 INTERNATIONAL TENDER, ONE 1250GPM 1993 SIMON DUPLEX SIX PERSONELL STRUCTURE ENGINE, AND ONE 250 GALLON 1995 DODGE FAST ATTACK/WILDLAND 4X4 ONE TON AND A 1987 CHEVY ONE TON 4X4 EXTRICATION UNIT. MARTIN CITY HOUSES THE CANYON JAWS UNIT FOR VEHICLE EXTRICATION, ASSIST OTHER NEIGHBORING DEPARTMENTS WITH MUTUAL AID, ASSISTS QRU UNIT, AMBULANCE UNITS AND ALS HELICOPTER UNIT.OUR HOME DISTRICT COVERS 9 SQUARE MILES, BUT MUTUAL AID COVERS MUCH FARTHER, 50 SQUARE MILES.FROM BAD ROCK CANYON TO THE CONTINNENTAL DIVIDE AT SUMMIT TO THE BOB MARSHALL WILDERNESS AREA. WE ALSO HAVE TRAINED AND SERVED AS SEARCH AND RESCUE FOR LOST HIKERS, SNOWMOBILERS AND THE LIKE. WE ALSO HAVE PURCHASED ANOTHER HALL ADJACENT TO THE TRUCK-HALL WHERE WE TRAIN, HOLD MEETINGS, AND HALL IS ALSO USED FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS, BANQUETS, ECT. THIS HALL MAY BE RENTED OUT UPON REQUEST FOR LARGE GET TOGETHERS AND FUNCTIONS, AND HAS A FULL-KITCHEN COMPLIMENT. THIS HALL IS ALSO HEADQUARTERS FOR THE CANYON QUICK RESPONSE UNIT.
