Career department covering the Borough of Naugatuck, CT. The town covers 16 square miles and has a population of 31,000. We staff 2 engines and a ladder or rescue truck with 8 on duty fire fighters (32 total). We also operate our own fire dispatch center with 4 dispatchers. Staff positions include the Chief\Fire Marshal, Deputy Chief, an 2nd Asst. Chief. The Marshals' office has a Deputy Marshal and an Inspector. Naugatuck operates two fire stations, Fire Headquarters downtown (1 engine, 1 ladder, 1 rescue) and the Eastside station (1 engine). We do not provide EMS service...yet. The NFD responds to between 1500 and 1800 calls per year. One member belongs to the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, MA-TF1. Two other members are with Connecticut US&R CT-TF1. All department members, except the Chief and Deputy Chief, are memebrs of IAFF Local 1219.
