Forbush Volunteer Fire Department

We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status with one part time paid staff Mon - Fri 8am to 5pm.
Our Department was chartered in 1960 and with the support and efforts of the firefighters and members of our local communities of Baltimore, Enon, Forbush, Huntsville, and West Bend, we have achieved many of our goals. Presently we are led by Chief Ricky W. Doub appointed in 2006. We currently have 42 members serving and are very proud to announce that every member is now enrolled in the North Carolina State Fire and Rescue Commissions Firefighter Certification Program. This is Internationally Accredited and is a totally voluntary program. It requires more than 400 hours presently to reach a goal of Level II Firefighter. Most of our citizens don't realize the time and expense involved in operating a Full-Time Business on a Part-Time Basis. We welcome a visit from the Community to show our equipment and discuss some of our tactics and procedures. We carry over 4,500 gallons of water on response of all our units and store an additional 4,000 gallons behind our station in a storage tank. We are also an avid user of mutual aid in our response to alarms. Forbush Volunteer Fire Department has begun an intensive campaign of Fire Prevention Education in our local schools and with other groups and hope that Fire Prevention Education proves to be our best tool and resource in Saving Lives and Property. We welcome new ideas from our Firefighters as well as from our community.
