Cape Elizabeth Fire Department proudly protects 10000 people living in an area of 25 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.
Cape Elizabeth is a small suburb of Portland in southern Maine. Within the town there are two state parks, many beaches, and a town owned park. One of the biggest attractions are the lighthouses, one of which is the most photographed lighthouse in America, Portland Headlight, which was one of the first lighthouse built by our U. S. Government, was commissioned by President Washington. Every year thousands of visitors pass though Cape to see the resources that Maine has to offer. The Department's mission is to provide the citizens and vistiors with the best possible fire and emergency medical services. The Department is made up of five companies; two engine companies, one EMS company, one surf-rescue company, and one fire-police company. The Department members are paid volunteers with one full time employee.
