South Oldham Fire Department

South Oldham Fire Department was established in 1950. It protects the communities of Crestwood, Brownsboro, parts of Buckner & Centerfield in Oldham County Kentucky. South Oldham is located approximately 14 miles north of Louisville Kentucky. The district consists of mainly rural residential, light commercial and industry, agricultural and horse farms. South Oldham covers 6 miles of Interstate 71 and 7 miles of rail line. The Department is staffed with approximately 28 volunteers, 1 Fulltime Fire Chief, 1 Fulltime Assistant Fire Chief, 1 Fulltime Firefighter, 2 รข?? 24/48 personal on shift, and 1 part time firefighter from 1000 till 2200hrs. There are 2 volunteers living in the station in the evening. South Oldham Fire provides Fire Protection, Vehicle Extrication, EMT-D, Fire Inspection Program and Public Education. South Oldham Fire Department serves over 10,000 people in a 45 square mile fire district. We operate out of 1 station. Our department is funded by a taxing district. We have an ISO rating of 4 in areas with fire hydrants and Class 9 in the non-hydrant areas.
