Approximately 120 years ago our town, North Manchester received their first hook and ladder engine. It was stored in a barn until the time and money came to build a fire station. Since that time we have served our community well, extending out to other areas to assist in mutual aide. In 1999 North Manchester Fire combined with the North Manchester Police and moved into an 18,030 square foot Public Safety facility. Today we have 3 full time drivers and 28 volunteer fire fighters. In September 2005 it was stated in the Wabash Plain Dealer that Fire protection services have help to lower the communitys ISO rating to seven. In turn, this has assisted in keeping residential insurance rates affordable. This in its self is quit an accomplishment. With Chester and Pleasant Township by our side for mutual aide, we are able to serve our community to our full capacity.
