Reading Fire/Rescue proudly protects 24000 people living in an area of 9 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status.

The Reading Fire Department has 46 Firefighters and Officers operating from 2 stations. A first alarm assignment consists of 2 engines, a ladder and a rescue/ambulance. The minimum shift strength is 9 firefighers. The department has 2 major interstate highways and a active railroad line cutting through the town.
