River Oaks Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 8100 people living in an area of 4.5 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.
The River Oaks was formed in 1946 to serve people living in the Carswell area of western Tarrant County. River Oaks is borderd by Fort Worth to the south, east and west and Sansom Park to the north. As many departments throughout the USA we have dramatically increased our call volume since the 1980's by 300% due to an increased role in EMS. We are striving to increase our ALS capabilitites in the First responder role we provide to our citizens. We come under the guidance of the Emergency Physicians Advisory Board for medical control and MEDSTAR ambulance provides ALS and transport services. Our members have a response time of 4 minutes or under in 87% of our calls.
