Coopers Plains Long Acres Fire Dept. is nestled in the Finger Lakes Region of the Southern Tier portion of New York. An all volunteer department with roughly 15-20 active members, CPLAFD just celebrated 50 years of service to the community in 2003. The department's district expanded in 2004 to bring new and exciting challenges to the dedicated members. To meet these challenges, the department has undertaken some large projects. An all new EMS first responder vehicle was delivered Sept. 1, 2004. It is a Swab Wagon Co. Pioneer Series box on a Chevrolet Silverado 4 door, 4x4, Duramax chassis. As well as the new truck, a complete vehicle rescue system from Holmatro was delivered in July '04. And finally, the department has received a grant from New York State for the purchase of an MSA Evolution 5000 Thermal Imaging Camera, delivered August'04. All of this plus present equipment will be utilized to enhance public safety not only in our community, but in our neighboring communities as well.
