The mission of the Kannapolis Fire Department is to protect lives and property within the City of Kannapolis from loss due to fire, natural disaster or other emergencies in a professional, competent and compassionate manner through conscientious application of education, prevention, fire suppression and mitigation.
Kannapolis Fire Department (KFD) proudly protects over 43,000 people living in an area of 32 square miles. KFD has 70 full-time positions of which 562 are Operations personnel working 24/48 shifts from five fire stations. The remainder of the staff consists of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Administrative Assistant, Division Chief of Personnel Development, Division Chief of Risk Reduction, 2 Fire Inspectors, and 1 Public Educator located in the Risk Reduction Division.
Fire equipment operated by the KFD includes 9 engines, 2 ladder trucks, 2 brush trucks, 1 tanker, adnd 1 command vehicle.
