Salem Fire Department- Union Fire Company

Union Fire Company (Salem City Fire Department) proudly protects approx. 7000 people living in an area of 2 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.

Union Fire Company is one of four companies that compose the Salem City Fire Department. Each company in the Salem Fire Department houses an engine along with a specialty unit, which include a cascade, ladder, brush, and rescue truck. Running out of our station is a 1999 E-One pumper along with a 1984 Chevy truck mounted with a cascade unit. Our company serves the city of Salem as well as our mutual aid communities which include Elsinboro, Mannington Township, and Pennsville among others. Union Fire Company No.1 also prides itself as being the oldest volunteer fire company in the state of New Jersey. A recent issue of First Responder Magazine declared that Union's 1749 creation gives it this distinction, settling a debate that has raged for years.
