Fleetwood Boro bought their first peice of fire fighting equipment in 1895. The Fleetwood Volunteer Fire Co., established in 1917, now, proudly protects 4000 residents in our primary area and +10000 residents in our mutual aid response area. Our ALS service, developed in 1952, has just celebrated 50 years of service and is the longest running fire department BLS service in the county. They protect 35 square miles and 14000 residents. The company operates out of 1 station that primarily protects over 1200 homes, three schools and seven churches. A commercial district with 12 large businesses and numerous smaller companies are also in our area. The company is a public department whose members are mainly volunteer. The company does employ 3 full time ALS personnel. The fire department has in place a junior FF program which starts at the age of 16. A junior Explorer program take members at the age of 14.
