Leitersburg Vol. Fire Co. proudly protects 2500 people living in an area of 50 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is totally volunteer.
Our department was started on Feb.16, 1956 by a handful of residents in a livery stable with a used 1936 chevy fire truck. Our first due area consists mostly of rural areas and farm lands. Included in our first due area are a elementary school, a psychiatric center, a plastics manufacturer, and a supplier of lp gas. We also supply fire and rescue service to a popular hang gliding spot known as high rock. We run mutual aid to Franklin County,PA and our surrounding communities.
