The fire company was organized in 1915. The name of the company derived from their first piece of fire equipment, a wheeled soda and acid extinguisher. It was pulled to the scene and inverted to cause a chemical reaction to provide pressure to pump the 50 gallons of water. The Walker Valley fire district is located in the Town of Shawangunk, approximately 85 miles north of New York City.
