Recent fires from around the country

Fitchburg, MA, Sept. 8, 2015—Firefighters responded to a fire in a single-family dwelling. Upon arrival, flames were leaping from the back of the home, with smoke pouring from all around the eaves. It took approximately 30 minutes for the three engines and one ladder to bring the fire under control.

Chicago, Aug. 31, 2015—Chicago firefighters responded to a fire in a historic bowling alley, reported to be the oldest in the city. Crews reported fire through the roof upon arrival. During the initial attack, a member from Station 110 was reported missing but, thankfully, located shortly thereafter. Tower ladders 21, 23, 14, as well as Squad 2, Reserve Snorkel 1 and Deck Gun 110 were among the master streams used to fight the blaze.

Middletown, CA, Sept. 12, 2015—Firefighters from the Graton Fire District protect structures in Middletown, which was devastated by the Valley Fire. The massive wildfire consumed more than 70,000 acres across three Northern California counties.
