Billy Leach shares information about his "Machinery Rescue: How to Prepare" program at Firehouse Expo.

Billy Leach will lead "Machinery Rescue: How to Prepare" at Firehouse Expo. Learn more about Leach and his new program below.

What will attendees to your program walk away with?

Attendees to my program will gain the knowledge to allow them to prepare for the inevitable machinery rescue operation. They'll learn the core skills needed during response, and I will review the equipment that will likely be used. Preparation can begin immediately after they return to their agency. Simply, this will allow them to function safer and more efficiently.

What is the story behind your class?

Over the years, I've responded to various machinery rescue operations. Although there were many similarities, each is different, requiring different knowledge and skill sets. After consideration, I've compiled this information into a robust presentation with key focus points related to what is required.

Tell us about your time in the fire service.

I've been involved in emergency services since 1976, both career and volunteer. My involvement has been firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care, and hazardous materials.

What has been the highlight of your career?

I've been able to take away the satisfaction of providing knowledge to others.  It is very fulfilling to hear people say, "I didn't know you could do that," or "I wished I'd known that last week."  Folks will use that information to work safer and more efficiently.

What’s one piece of advice that you can give to Firehouse Expo attendees to make it a great experience?
