Fire Engine Flips, Injuring Ohio Firefighter

Sept. 16, 2014
The Jackson Township firefighter suffered a head injury.

An Ohio firefighter was injured Monday when the fire truck he was operating flipped.

The Jackson Township firefighter was returning from an equipment test when the rig flipped onto its side.

He was flown to an area trauma center with what officials are saying are non-life-threatening injuries.

In a curve, the truck's right wheels went off the side of the road, and the driver over corrected. The truck then cross the center line, ran off the left side of the road and overturned. troopers told WLWT reporters.

Troopers said normally the truck wouldn't have been on Jackson Pike for a non-emergency run, but a section of U.S. 50 is closed for work, forcing a detour.

The truck, valued at $350,000, is insured, the fire department said.
