2002 Smeal / Spartan Gladiator Engine

Mount Holly Fire and Rescue recently took delivery of a 2002 Smeal / Spartan Gladiator Engine Company. Mount Holly Fire and Rescue serves the City of Mount Holly (10,000+) with fire, rescue and emergency medical services. The department consists of a full-time Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Fire Inspector, and a combination of 12 full-time Firefighter/EMT-D/Engineers and 46 volunteer personnel. Mount Holly Fire and Rescue operates engine companies out of each of the 3 fire stations. In addition, a ladder company, rescue company and ambulances are housed at the headquarters station.

The recently purchased apparatus will be assigned to the Headquarters Station as Engine 1. The Smeal Fire body is mounted on a 2002 Spartan Gladiator LFD cab and chassis with seating for 5 and equipped with an EMS Compartment. Some of the specifications of the truck are listed below:

  • 425 hp Caterpillar C-12
  • 1500 gpm Waterous Single Stage Pump
  • 720 gallon water / 30 gallon foam tank
  • 10kW Harrison Hydraulic Generator w/ 4 1500w lights
  • (1) 24ft Ext. Ladder, (2) 14ft Roof Ladders, (1) 10 ft attic ladder
  • Smeal Ladder Rack
  • "Discharge Free" pump panel for operator safety
  • 1500ft 5" LDH
