Palouse Fire Department Palouse, WA 2002 Ford F550 Crew Cab Brush Truck
The Palouse Fire Department took delivery of this brush unit on July 8,
2002. The 2002 Ford F550 Crew Cab 4x4 chassis replaces a 1985 GMC 3500 4x4
chassis that was severely damaged in an accident last September. The fire
body was relatively unharmed in the accident and was modified to fit the new
chassis by Palouse Welding and Machine. The truck is driven by a
PowerStroke diesel engine and six speed manual transmission and carries 500
gallons of water.
The Palouse Fire Department is comprised of 25 volunteer members and
protects a town of 1,000 people and approximately 150 square miles of
farmland in rural eastern Washington State. The department operates from
one station with a 1,000-gpm pumper, two brush trucks, and a tender.
