District of Columbia Fire/EMS Department
Washington, DC
Six Seagrave Pumpers and Ten Ambulances

unit image

Mayor Anthony A. Williams joined Acting Fire/EMS Chief Adrian H. Thompson and members of the DC City Council in an event celebrating the arrival of several new pieces of heavy-duty equipment, including fire engines and ambulances.

The new equipment represents the most significant addition to the city's front-line fleet in at least 20 years. Fire/EMS has already received six Seagrave pumpers and 10 ambulances. They are the first pieces to arrive in a contingent of new equipment that will continue to be delivered over the next several months. By the end of the summer, the department will have taken delivery on 20 new pumpers, 20 new ambulances, three new aerial ladder trucks, a new rescue medic unit, and other pieces of heavy-duty equipment.
