Ford F550 Rapid Intervention Vehicle

The Halton Hills (Ont.) Fire Protection & Prevention Services, under the leadership of Director Bob Meads, has taken delivery of three identical Rapid Intervention Vehicles from Summit Fire Protection of Winnipeg.

The three 4-wheel drive Ford F550 chassis are each equipped with Snuffer CAFS, 300 gallon water tanks, 12-volt scene lighting, and Whelen strobe light packages including OPTICOM. The vehicles, designated as "Squads," carry a variety of firefighting gear and equipment including SCBA, CO detection, vehicle extrication, medical response, wildland firefighting, and spill containment equipment.

The vehicles are utilized by the departments full-time inspection/response teams during the day, and the departments 80 part-time firefighters during evenings and weekends.
