On December 24th firefighters from the Manhattan, IL Fire Department were called out for a report of fire in a detached garage, located in the rural part of the Manhattan Fire Departments response area.
Units arrived quickly and found a working garage fire with a vehicle parked inside.
Firefighters immediately started to attack the rapidly growing fire, and called for assistance from the East Joliet and Frankfort Fire Departments.
Firefighters were on the scene for nearly two hours extinguishing hotspots. The building and contents were a total loss.
The cause of the fire was not known, and was still under investigation.
The ManhattanFire Department is located approximately 60 miles southwest of Chicago.
