Pennsylvania Firefighters Battle House Blaze

Story/Photos By Robert E. Williams

On December 11, an overnight fire on Erie's east side resulted in burns to two occupants of a two and one half story frame dwelling.

One victim was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of her burns.

The fire followed an explosion, and spread to an adjacent house before firefighters arrived.

The Fire Department Communication Center is less than half a block from the scene.

Dispatchers heard the explosion and saw flames according to Assistant Chief Lawson. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One house was destroyed, and another suffered heavy damage.
