The Deltona Fire Department received a call of a house fire at 3268 Sardinia Terrace Wednesday morning at 10:37 a.m.
Fire crews arrived at 10:43 a.m. finding heavy smoke and fire in the rear bedroom of the home. Fire Department personnel confirmed that the home owner Mrs. Kelly Denton was out of the house and that no one else was home.
The fire was brought under control at 11:15 a.m. At the time of the fire two of the home owners and 6 dogs were inside the residence. Firefighting crews removed the two dogs and were able to revive one of them.
It was then transported to Deltona Animal Clinic on Providence Blvd. for treatment of second degree burns and smoke inhalation. A total of 14 personnel from the Deltona Fire Department responded to the alarm along with mutual aid from Orange City Fire Department and Volusia County Fire Services.
Investigators from the Deltona Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the fire. The damage is estimated at $50,000 to the home plus contents estimated at another $50,000. There were no citizen or firefighter injuries.
Mr. & Mrs. Denton and their 4 children are being placed in a local hotel tonight by the American Red Cross.
