On January 8, 2002, firefighters from the Gardner Avenue fire station in Rochester, NY were summoned by a citizen who ran to the fire station to report that a house at 132-134 Gardner Avenue was on fire.
Firefighters qickly arrived to find a working attic fire that was almost through the roof.
Crews went to work placing handlines and master streams into operation to battle the fast moving fire, that was rapidly spreading through the vacant structure.
A second alarm was called for the safety of firefighters already battling the blaze.
It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
No one was injured while battling the blaze and investigators have ruled the fire an arson and say it was set in the attic.
