Connecticut Firefighters Battle Condo Blaze

Naugatuck, CT firefighters responded to this condominium unit at 10:00 AM New Years Day. A 20 pound propane tank exploded on the 2nd floor deck as the first engine arrived.

Two occupants of the apartment were rescued by a police officer using a ladder from a maintenance shed.

Three engines and a ladder from Naugatuck as well as an engine company from Waterbury FD (CT) responded. No injuries reported.

Fire was contained to the apartment of origin with smoke and water damage to 3 other units. The fire is under investigation and is believed to be accidental.
