A single family raised ranch fire enveloped the Wicken Square Development in the Midway Fire District.
At approximately noon, 911 was called reporting a structure fire.
Midway Fire Department was dispatched with Colonie Fire Company for an engine day time mutual aid, and the Stanford Heights Fire District for the FAST Team.
Colonie Police Department units were first to arrive reporting flames through the roof.
Shortly thereafter Assistant Chief Charles Lawlor arrived and established command.
A heavy smoke condition persisted from the front of the residence, and a heavy fire pushed out the C-D corner of the second floor.
Rescue 7 arrived and established a water supply while the attack crew prepared to enter the building.
Two hand lines were advanced into the structure and an aggressive interior attack was made, followed by a quick knockdown.
Crews from Engine 406 and Truck 7 laddered and vented the roof.
Extensive overhaul was necessary in the fire rooms.
Chief Lawlor declared a Signal 30, all hands working with automatic response of the airbank, fire investigation, operations cars, and a cover company for the Midway station.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
