On October 8th, 2002 in Fairport, outside of Rochester, NY firefighters responded to a call for a house fire. The call came in just after noon with a report of a female trapped.
3C14, the Fairport Chief was on the scene 3 minutes later confirming heavy smoke and fire form a 2 story residential structure.
Initial attack was conducted by Engine 3413 while a search for the victim was under way. The middle aged female was found within a few minutes in the upstairs bedroom and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The fire was contained within 30 minutes and no firefighters were hurt.
The Penfield Fire District responded to the scene as the RIT team while Egypt and Brighton responded to the scene with one engine and one heavy rescue respectively.
